Saleem Chaney 

 President 

Saleem Chaney was born in Alabama and raised as a Muslim from the age of six.
He is the youngest American graduate of the world-renowned Islamic University of Madinah, where he earned a degree in Shari'ah (Islamic Jurisprudence). He also holds an Ijaazah in Quran memorization.
From 2017 to 2020, he served as the Religious Director of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro and has continued to serve the Middle Tennessee Muslim community with dedication and leadership ever since. 
Saleem has been a board member of various organizations, a guest lecturer at multiple universities, commonly requested Imam for Taraweeh, well known khateeb and an active supporter of initiatives like MIST Nashville.
A native English speaker who is also fluent in Arabic, Saleem bridges cultures with clarity and purpose, striving to build a stronger, more connected American Muslim community.

Mubarik Johnson

 Vice President 

Mubarik Johnson was born Muslim in Long Island, New York. His parents are indigenous 

Americans who converted from Christianity to Islam in the 1970s 

He graduated from Tennessee State university school of nursing and completed post graduate training as an RNFA, and currently works in the Healthcare sector helping to providing urgent and emergency surgery in the Nashville area. 

He also holds a bachelor's degree in Islamic studies from international open university and has also completed memorization of the Quran. 

He currently serves as the Imaam at Masjid an Naas in north Nashville and is regularly a guest khateeb at other masajid in the Nashville area. 

 

In his free time, volunteers coaching youth sports,  tutoring students and also does personal fitness training.

Nur Hadith

Advisor 

Nur Hadith is a passionate community leader, lifelong learner, and dedicated student of both faith and technology. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he embraced Islam in July 2020 and has since committed himself to supporting fellow converts and deepening his understanding of the Deen.

 

He currently serves as the New Muslim Coordinator at the Islamic Center of Nashville – 12th South, where he mentors new Muslims and helps them navigate the early stages of their spiritual journey with sincerity and brotherhood.

 

In addition to his community work, Nur is pursuing a degree in Computer Networking, with aspirations to use his skills to protect and empower both digital and faith-based communities. He is also the host of a podcast that shares Islamic knowledge, personal reflections, and spiritual insights in a relatable, down-to-earth style — continuing his mission to make Islam accessible and empowering for all.

 

Nur’s dedication to education, faith, and community service makes him a powerful voice and advisor in the American Muslim space.

Anwar Hussein

Social Media Coordinator

Anwar Hussein is a Lao-American born in the United States and has lived in Nashville since 1998. Although raised by Buddhist parents, he embraced Islam in 2003 and has since remained deeply committed to his faith.

 

Anwar holds a degree in Audio Engineering and is currently pursuing a career in healthcare as a nursing student, working toward becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). An entrepreneur at heart, he actively manages multiple businesses, bringing creativity, discipline, and a hands-on approach to everything he does.

 

Known for being a jack of all trades, Anwar thrives in diverse environments and is always seeking opportunities to grow and give back. With the help and mercy of Allah, he hopes to be a vessel of benefit to the ummah and any organization he serves.

 

In his free time, Anwar enjoys spending quality time with his family, which remains a central source of strength and motivation in his life.
